Stephanie Agnes Flis

Stephanie A. Flis, age 96, died Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital in Livonia, Michigan. She was born in Detroit on August 29, 1912 to parents, Michael & Sophie (nee: Hoffman) Rais. In 1940, Stephanie took that fateful walk down the aisle to join the love of her life, Walter, in holy matrimony. Together, they shared over 53 years of marriage, with one of the most tender moments of being able to celebrate their Golden Anniversary. Stephanie was a dedicated wife & mother and was an integral part in the raising & nurturing of five wonderful children. Family was one of her greatest treasures, and she always looked forward to the fun of the family reunions in July. When it came to Stephanie's talents and creativity, her handiwork shined through the artistry of the items she crocheted and embroidered over the years. She was known as a meticulous housekeeper, as well as an incredible cook and baker. Her baking skills were so accomplished, she worked professionally as a cake decorator. Beloved wife of the late Walter. Dear mother of Marjorie, Donald, Gerald (Sharon) Flis, Judith (Elvis) Cruse, and Richard Flis. Grandmother of April (Bill) Bertolino, Autumn (Ken) Kovach, Julie Flis, Mary Flis, and Lauren Cruse. Great-grandmother of Paige and Lily Kovach. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visitation for Stephanie will be on Sunday from 3-8pm, with a 4pm Scripture Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd.) in Warren. She will lie In State on Monday from 11:30am until the time of Mass at 12pm at St. Sylvester Catholic Church, where Stephanie was a devout member for over 37 years. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen.
