Steven Mark Winiarski, age 55 of Warren, died Thursday, July 28, 2016 at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital, Macomb Center in Warren. He was born February 13, 1961 in Detroit, son of the late Stanley Jacob and the late Elizabeth Eleanor (nee: Hyzy) Winiarski.Steve was definitely one of the human races special souls. Though he may have been compelled to hold down a job for survival's sake, there's no questioning the fact that his heart was truly in the arts. God gives each of us unique and individual gifts, and Steve was one of the lucky recipients to be infused with a host of genuine talents. From his eye, his touch, his ear and his incredible sense of seeing the artistic value in ways that others could not, he left us with many expressions of the artist within through venues such as wood carvings, paintings, photography, and the magic he performed on the guitar and piano,…mind you, without ever having any formal music lessons. When referencing Steve's talents, it should be stated that there was one dominant theme to many of his works that spoke to his love of birds. It wasn't merely a chosen theme,…for Steve, the avian world enveloped his heart & soul and was more of an all-consuming quality that found its form in so much of what he shared with the world. And his works weren't merely an assembly line of different versions,…they were massively detailed expressions that could easily be displayed in an art gallery. The intricacies in each piece were breathtakingly stunning, and truly a gift from the blessings he held inside. Steve's appreciation for birds wasn't seen simply in his art, it called him to support many different charitable and environmental causes that drew him to such places as Hawk Mountain, Pennsylvania and Point Pelee in Ontario, Canada. And of course, his camera always managed to tag along as well,…which captured a host of spectacular photographs over the years. And birds were not his only love. Though the mention has been made about his musical talents, this obituary would be sadly remiss if not to mention his love for the iconic and infamous, "Beatles." Every once in a while an artist needs to relax and regroup, and for Steve that often meant firing up one of his Beatles' albums and being swept away by the "Fab Four!" Life was never more sweeter.A life gone far too soon from our presence, we can at least try and take heart that he leaves behind so many wonderful expressions of himself. Life may have been challenging at times, but Steve always found a way through in the art that always found a way out. May his expressions be a road towards healing and wholeness,…a path that is sure to be a reminiscent one. May he rest in peace.Steven was the dear brother of Toni Smith, Gerri (Santo) Audia, Karen (Rich) Serfass, and Stan (Linda) Winiarski. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Friday, August 5, 2016 from 10:00 am until the time of Funeral Mass at 10:30 am at St. Faustina Catholic Church, 14025 Twelve Mile Rd., Warren.Memorial donations, in Steven's name, are welcomed to his family.Arrangements have been entrusted to the D.S.
