Tammie was my little sister. I just learned of her passing. I love you to the moon & back sweetheart. God Bless You& your beautiful soul. I'll see you in heaven dear sister🙏

Miss Tammie was truly one of the most wonderful women I've ever known.  Meeting her daughter, Shannon, in preschool we became best friends and through that, my mom and Tammie also became good friends. We spent so much time together between playdates, sleepovers and watching Shannon and Matthew figure skate.  One thing I will never forget about Miss Tammie was her extensive movie collection. She bought every movie ever made; it was incredible. It made sleepovers even more fun since we had tons of options for movies.

Tammie absolutely lived for her children. Her kids came first, and she was an amazing mom to them and loved them so much. She was always there for every event. All the skate competitions, school events, field trips. She went to everything and was so supportive of Shannon and Matthew. 

Tammie will be missed dearly. I am thankful to have known her and the whole Hurst family for most of my life. I am also so grateful I have memories of her that I can hold on to. Shannon, Matthew, and Don - there are no words I can say to take the hurt away from losing an amazing mother and wife. I love you all and am here if you need anything


There are so many memories I could share about Tammie. We met as Moms of young children and brand-new preschool teachers and were friends instantly. Tammie loved endlessly; she loved being a wife and was absolutely in love with Don. We would share stories of our young marriages with children, and she would constantly talk about her love story – how she and Don met and how she constantly kept falling in love with Don, and how much she was committed to her marriage. Tammie adored her children and was entirely devoted to every single aspect of raising children loving the Lord and loving others. I watched Tammie day after day love on Matthew and Shannon and make sure they had what they needed, with an attitude of love, protection and the light of the Lord. As a preschool teacher, I watched Tammie literally welcome the littlest ones into her loving arms day in and day out. She wanted them to love Jesus, love themselves and love each other. I can still hear her leading her students in the song, “This Little Light of Mine”…always singing and always leading the way to Him. As a friend, Tammie was a force. Both in our young marriages with young children, working in education, and trying to exhibit the Lord’s love, we spent many of hours talking, laughing, crying, and praying – usually when we were in our cars driving to the next thing we needed to do for our families. I moved away and the distance got in the way more than it should have, but I do know Tammie helped shape me into the servant, wife, and mother that I am today. Her impacts are endless and I know she changed everything she touched for the better. I will miss you my dearest friend and can’t wait to see you again.  In the meantime, rest now faithful one. I pray your rewards are great.

Almost 20 years ago, you were my preschool teacher. I remember I would get so excited to see you every day. Your kindness and patience was incredible. Even after I left preschool, you still looked out for me and kept in contact with me. I remember on my 18th birthday, you and Shannon brought me balloons and treats before "She Kills Monsters". I will never forget that sweet gesture.  
You taught me at a young age how to be kind, loving, and compassionate. You taught me to put others before myself, and to always be nice. 
Shannon, Don, and Matt: Your mother was one in a million. We will never forget her and her amazing smile and personality. My family is here for anything you need.

For the Loss of Tammie Hurst

My heart goes out to Don, the kids and all the family for loss of such a beautiful woman. She had such a big heart, she was a kind and loving person. She had a smile for everyone, And because of her smile it made life a more beautiful place. She will be greatly missed. But we know she definitely has a place in heaven and will always be in the hearts of all the people who love her.

Tammie was a Loving member of my family and will be truly missed by all she knew.   I will miss her hugs and smiles every time we saw each other.  She may be gone but will live on in our hearts. Aunt Tammie was everyone’s favorite aunt. She was honest yet loving, goofy yet not to be taken lightly, but most of all she was strong. My favorite memory of Aunt Tammie was when I was in high school. She worked in the daycare and sometimes we would spot each other in the hallway and we immediately would get excited and point at one another and say: “hey I love you!” Then she would chastise me about not being in class. She will be greatly missed and will hold a dear place in all of our hearts and someday when I see her in heaven I know we’ll point at each other and say “hey I love you!”
