Ted Walters, age 93 of Warren, died Monday, July 12, 2021 in Warren in the company of his loving family. He was born October 19, 1927 in Detroit, son of the late Stanislaus and the late Mary (nee: Mroz) Walczyszyn.
With thanks and praise from a grateful nation, we pay homage to Ted for his service to our country during World War II. As a sailor in the United States Navy from November 1944 to October 1948, he attained the rank of CS3 and served aboard numerous naval vessels throughout his duty assignments, both at home and overseas. For the sacrifices made and his willingness to stand in harm’s way for the cause of freedom, we honor Ted’s service and extend our posthumous gratitude to a gentleman who was, truly, an integral part of our “Greatest Generation.”
As for Ted’s career path, he chose to put his hard-working hands and skillful knowledge into action as a machinist and processor in the field of manufacturing. It seemed as though he was always dabbling in something different, perhaps because he was always on a quest for the next bigger and better opportunity to get ahead. He possessed a “go get ‘em” spirit and was never shy about putting in a good days work for a good days pay.
After the loss of his first wife, Dolores, love found its way back into Ted's heart once again when he met his beloved Helen at St. Mark's parish in Warren, Michigan. Together, they joined families and spent the next 37 loving years side by side.
As for his way of enjoying life, there was no better way to do so than to share the dance floor with his bride and soulmate, Helen. The two lovebirds were not only smitten with each other, but also in the pleasure they shared swaying to the music and tripping the light fantastic. With dance halls on just about every corner back in the day, their choices were plenty and they visited them as often as they were able. One of the sweetest examples of love is watching a couple in each others’ arms as they glide across the floor in effortless motion,…and that truly describes the love people witnessed in Ted & Helen. Just imagine the dancing they’re sharing together now?
A beloved husband who adored his wives,…a cherished father who loved doting on his blended family,…and a loving grandfather who provided countless hours of fun and enjoyment, Ted leaves a storehouse of wonderful memories to be embraced with each reflection shared. He will be missed beyond expression and loved beyond measure.
Ted was the beloved husband of the late Helen. Dear father of Constance (Dennis) Johnston, Jacqueline Hampton (Michael), and stepfather of Tamara (Joseph) Remisiewicz, and the late Thomas Pizurie. Loving grandfather of Erin Johnston and Winona Smith, Beth Ann Fahl, Rebecca Barth, Kristi Matson, and great-grandfather of Kaynon, Christopher, and Alexandra. Brother of Joseph (the late Kay), the late Stella (the late Edward) Dreslinski, and the late Sophie (the late Bill) Wencel. Ted is also survived by many other loving family members.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home in Warren, Michigan.
A Memorial Luncheon will be held from 12:30 - 2:30 pm on Wednesday, July 21st at the American Polish Century Club located at 33204 Maple Lane in Sterling Heights (14 Mile & Hoover Rd's) for family and friends to celebrate Ted's life.
In recognition of his military service, Ted will be laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. A Committal Service, with the rendering of Naval Honors, will take place in the near future for the immediate family.
