

Veronica M. Hovanec, age 78 of Sterling Heights, passed away peacefully with her children by her side on May 10, 2014 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township, Michigan. She was born August 10, 1935 in Filbert, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Paul S. and the late Mary P. (nee: Kriscovich) Franks.Veronica was the kindest, most generous person who was loved by all, and truly lived out the scripture that calls us to "Consider others more important than yourself,"...and was always putting others' needs before her own. She was loved by family and treasured by her friends, and spoke fondly and often about her childhood in Pennsylvania and attending Redstone High School.Veronica had a passion for baking and excelled when it came to creating some delicious sweet treats, especially her famous cakes and cookies. Another passion of hers was found in her love of animals, particularly her fuzzy friend, "Hope"...a little kitten who had stolen her heart and provided her with immense joy. Veronica absolutely adored her little feline housemate. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Veronica emulated the best and brightest of mankind and truly lived the life of a servant. Always giving, always caring, and always with the heart of a woman who loved her Lord. She leaves behind a wonderful legacy of love and a storehouse of memories to reflect upon with each remembrance visited. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally.Veronica was the beloved wife of the late Edward. Dear mother of Daniel (Jane) and Mary Lynn (Todd) Grant. Loving grandmother of Bradley Paul, and step-grandmother of Abby Walters and Emily (Tom) Bishop. Devoted sister of the late Marie (late Andrew) Kavulic, the late Pauline (Albert) Roth, Anna (Angelo) Pasqualone, Martha (late Gerald) Rossman, Barbara (late Robert) Kijorski, Dolores (Richard) Malolepszy, and Agnes (Ronald) Kickhofel. Also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.Memorial donations are welcomed to the "Wish-A-Mile Bike Event," in association with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, in support of Veronica's son-in-law who will be participating in the event and to help make more wishes come true. Visitation for Veronica will be held Tuesday, May 13th from 3-9pm, with a 7pm Rosary Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd) in Warren. She will lie in state Wednesday from 10am until time of the Funeral Mass at 10:30am at St. Ronald Catholic Church in Clinton Township.
