

Violet Grochowski, age 67 a resident of Las Vegas, Nevada for the past 7 years, died suddenly on Friday, September 18, 2009. She was a former longtime resident of Warren, Michigan. Violet was born in Detroit on August 29, 1942 the daughter of the late Joseph and Caroline (nee: Ciupka) Sochowicz. Violet was a graduate of Pershing High School in Detroit. Upon entering the work force, Violet accepted employment with the J.C. Penney Company where she went on to extend her many years of dedicated service in their Furniture Sales Department. When she wasn't working, a favorite pasttime would find her sitting with her friends around the table, vying for that eager opportunity of screaming out the ever-familiar exclamation, "BINGO!" Violet was a passionate woman, especially when it came to her family. She treasured and adored her children & grandchildren, which were, truly, the focus of her life. She leaves a legacy of love for them all to cherish and remember. Violet was the beloved wife of the late Stanley Grochowski. She is the dearest mother of Joseph (Shannon) Wismont, and Lisa (Chuck)Shermetaro. Loving grandmother of C.J., Hunter, Jake, Dylan, Mitchell, Isabelle, and Megan. She is the dear sister of Norm (Delores) Sochowicz, Leona Marshall, Diane (Jack) Pastorino, and loving companion of Lyle Guernsey. Visitation for Mrs. Grochowski will be Thursday 3-9 p.m., with a 6 p.m. Scripture Service at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd) in Warren. Mrs. Grochowski's Funeral Mass will take place at St. Sylvester Catholic Church on Friday, where she will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Please share memories of Violet at her guest book.
