

Honorable Walter Peter Cynar, age 88 a 43 year resident of Warren, died Sunday, December 02, 2007 at Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills Michigan. Judge Cynar was born November 14, 1919 in Hamtramck, Michigan the son of the late Andrew Cynar and the late Josephine (nee: Bawol) Cynar. As a boy Walter was raised with his siblings in Hamtramck and attended Our Lady Queen of Apostles church and school, he would move on to graduate Hamtramck High School where he played varsity football. Walter went on to attend and graduate early from Western Michigan University, with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in 1943; Walter graduated early from W.M.U. because the United States military needed good young men during World War II. Walter achieved the rank of Lt. Senior Grade in the United State Navy. After his military service he became a World War II member of Am Vets Post 29 (life member), American Legion Post 4, and P.L.A.V. Post 165 (life member). Walter attended Georgetown University Law School; and New York University National Judicial College; American University; and Wayne State University, before he settled at the University of Detroit where he received his Juris Doctorate Law Degree in 1949. Judge Cynar was admitted to practice law in 1949, and served from 1966 through 1990, he served as Circuit Court Judge in Macomb County and as Michigan Court of Appeals Judge. Judge Cynar was admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court Bar in 1964. When the Judge had some time he would visit his 80 acre farm in Memphis Michigan. He also would allow the Boy Scouts to use the farm for overnight camping and outdoor skills training. Judge Cynar is survived by his loving wife of over 66 years, Toni (nee: Ezersky) Cynar, a former school teacher. He and his wife are parents of five children: Christopher (Joanne Start) Cynar, David Cynar, Mark (Marykay Marks) Cynar, Mary (John Wygonski) Cynar, and John Cynar (Hillary Ward). He is also the loving grandfather of Christopher, Paul, Larissa, Ellen, Anna, Paula, and Will, and dear brother of Fred Cynar, Raymond Cynar, and the late Jeanne Tutag. Judge Cynar is also the former father in-law of Carol Cynar. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 Mile). Judge Cynar will lie in state Friday 9 am at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church until the time of the Funeral Mass at 9:30 am.
