Born in China, Yuke immigrated to the United States at the age of 16 in pursuit of the American dream. He proudly became a U.S. citizen and went on to serve his country in the United States Army. With a strong sense of patriotism, Eddie carried his deep love for America throughout his life, always believing in the value of hard work and perseverance.
A talented chef and baker, after many years working as a chef, he and his beloved wife Shui “Carol” became the founding owners of Wah Hong Restaurant in East Detroit (now Eastpointe). Known for his skills as a chef both at the restaurant and at family dinners, Eddie’s family remembers his delicious gourmet dishes. Everything Eddie prepared was from scratch, including using vegetables from his home garden. Family dinners were a cherished ritual, often lasting hours as they lost track of time in good food and company when they went out to their favorite restaurants. Eddie expressed his love not with words, but through his actions—quietly and steadily providing for his family and those he cherished. Eddie was a true handyman who built much of what his home needed with his own hands, including most of the shelves in the house. He and Carol shared a joyful life together for 61 years, often traveling to Las Vegas, Toronto, San Francisco, Atlantic City, and anywhere else that offered the fun of a casino.
Loving husband of 61 years to Shui Yee. Beloved father of Andrew (Joey) Yee and Pamela (Kenneth) Yee-Sheehan. Dear grandfather of Olivia and Moira Yee. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
