Anthony C. Desmarais

Age 82, passed away on March 30th 2010. He was the beloved husband of Patricia (Stabile) Desmarais. Born in Bristol, he was the son of George and Rosealma (Lemire) Desmarais.

He was a Past Commander of the VFW Post 237 qand the former quartermaster for 25 years. He was a district 2 Commander, Past President of the Bristol Veterans Council. Receipent of the Hattie Brown Award for Community Service with the youth of Bristol. He served as vice chairman of the Bristol recreation board for 20 years.

He is survived by his son, Anthony Desmarais II and his wife Sandra, of Johnston, RI, Mary Ann Barnard of Keller, TX, James Desmarais and his wife Araceli of Euless, TX, six grandchildren; Courtney Garrison, Joshua Barnard, Cassandra, Kayla, Hillary and Dana Desmarais, and two sisters, Madeline Scola and Rita LaRoche. He was the brother of the late Emilien, Albert, Frederick and Gilbert Desmarais, Odille Brule, Lucy Bettencourt and Roseanna Squires.

Funeral from WILBUR-ROMANO FUNERAL HOME, 615 Main St., Warren, RI on Tuesday at 10:00 am followed by the Mass of Christian burial at 11:30am in Our Lady of Mt Carmel church, State St. Bristol. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol RI.

Visiting hours are Monday, 4:00pm to 8:00pm.
