

Estelle J. (Benevides) Moniz, age 83, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2022 surrounded by her loving family at her home in Bristol. She was the devoted wife of the late Manuel P. Moniz to whom she was married 58 years until his passing in 2006.
Born in Providence a daughter of the late Anthony and Lydia (Andrade) Benevides she was a longtime resident of Rehoboth before moving to Bristol.
She worked for many years at Trifari Jewelry and then at Q.A.S. Insulation, Inc. A member of the East Providence bowling team, the “Awful Awfuls” she also enjoyed a good card game. A devout Catholic, maintained a long list of people she prayed for and dedicated much of her time to many charities. Her greatest love was her family especially spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She absolutely adored her doctor, Vincent Armenio.
She is survived by her two sons, Joseph A. Moniz and Vincent P. “Vinny” Moniz and his wife Laura; one daughter, Lydia N. Moniz; two brothers, Michael and Bernie Benevides; three sisters, Linda Boccafusco, Cheryl O’Dod and Donna Soares; six grandchildren, Alexandria Carnevale and her husband Michael, Sandi Campos and her husband Andrew, Ernest Trafford III, Marissa Collins and her husband Jeremy, Vincent “Nick” Moniz and Makenzie Moniz; three great grandchildren, James D. Campos, Hayden Collins and Brielle Campos and many wonderful nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Leonard D. “Dino” Moniz and sister of the late Anthony, Robert “Manny” and Benjamin Benevides, Dorothy Mulvey and Elaine Arnold.
Her visitation will be Monday, January 31, 2022 from 9:00 -10:30 AM in the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, 615 Main Street, Warren followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Mary of the Bay Parish, 645 Main Street, Warren. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. Relatives and friends are invited. At the family’s request, please wear a face covering to protect those who may be vulnerable.
