Manuel “Mu Mu” De Encarnacao, age 77, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2020 at his home in Warren comforted by his family. He was the devoted husband of Donna (D’Aloia) De Encarnacao to whom he was married for 28 years.
Born in Brava, Cape Verde a son of the late Antonio Tavares and the late Domingues De Encarnacao he immigrated to Senegal, West Africa before coming to the United States.
Educated in Brava he then went through rigorous training and education in watch making and repair in Dakar, Senegal, West Africa. He worked for Franco Swiss for 38 years. Once in the States, he was co-owner with his wife Donna of a successful cleaning service for many years. A true handyman and innovator, he worked with his hands and had ample patience to find solutions to any problem. A music lover, he enjoyed listening to all kinds of genres and teaching himself to play the violin. A keen knowledge of language and culture, he was fluent in French, Creole, Portuguese, Wolof and English.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Dominique De Encarnacao and Isabell Ndiaye, both of Senegal; one stepson, Vito DeSimone and his wife Paula of Johnston, RI; one brother, Pedro Da Encarnacao; one sister, Carlota Andrade; three granddaughters, Ayden Diop, Ornella Monteiro and Alicia Monteiro; four grandsons, Cyril Andrade, Fabrice Andrade, Giovanni DeSimone and Ethan DeSimone; one great-grandson, Liame Muluba and several nieces and nephews.
His visitation will be held Thursday, March 12, 2020 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM in the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, 615 Main Street, Warren. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial will be private.
