Mario Marcoccia

Mario Marcoccia, age 89, of Barrington, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, February 2, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Marie (Valenti) Marcoccia, to whom he was married for 63 years.

Born in Rome, Italy, he was the son of the late Dominic and Maria Theresa (Andreozzi) Marcoccia. Mario immigrated to the United States at the age of 15.

Mario worked for many years as a carpenter and stone mason for the Rhode Island Department of Transportation, retiring in 2003. He was a communicant of Holy Angels Church and enjoyed working with his hands and building. To his family and friends, Mario was affectionately known as “The Boss” and was always kind to others and willing to help anyone in need.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Mario Marcoccia, Jr. and his wife Deirdre of North Carolina, Joseph Marcoccia of Barrington, and Paul Marcoccia and his wife Nicole of North Carolina; his four grandchildren, Gabrielle Marcoccia, Olivia Marcoccia, Nathan Marcoccia, and Caroline Marcoccia; his siblings, Ilvana Caserta of Barrington, Louisa Ferreira of Waterford, CT, and Luigi Marcoccia of Barrington; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Frank Marcoccia.

His funeral will be held Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 9:00 AM from Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, 615 Main Street, Warren, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at Holy Angels Church, 341 Maple Avenue, Barrington. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. Burial will be in Maria del Campo Cemetery, Barrington.
