Martha V. Laurienzo Proto

Proto, Martha V. (Laurienzo) age 79 of 671 Metacom Avenue, Bristol formerly of Asylum Rd., Warren died Saturday, May 22, 2010 at St. Elizabeth’s Manor. She was the wife of the late Gaetano R. (Guy) Proto. Born in Warren she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Annina ( Pasquariello) Laurienzo.

She worked for the Bristol County Water Authority in the Accountant Department. She also worked the Wharf Tavern as a bookkeeper and Kaiser Aluminum. She was a communicant of St. Alexander Church and served on various committees with her late husband. They worked on the festival, marcaroni supper, budget committee and taught first communion class. They were also the coordinators for the marriage program and former parish council liturgical committee.

Martha was a member of the Warren Senior Citizens and attended their exercise class and also the class at Total Fitness in Bristol.

She is survived by two sons: Stephen and his wife Lisa of West Warwick and Marc and his wife Lisa of Warren and two daughters: Marybeth Burke of GA. and Kristin Joyal and her husband Richard of Kingston RI. She had six grandchildren: Kevin and Sarah Burke, Megan Wyatt, Ashley and Nicholas Proto and Thomas Joyal, three great grandchildren: Jaelynn and Karen Burke and Kelsie Lynn Wyatt, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Guy.

She was the sister of the late Dolores (Chubby) Zbyszewski and her husband Edward.

Her Funeral will be Wednesday at 8 am from WILBUR-ROMANO Funeral Home, 615 Main St., Warren, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 am in St. Alexander Church 221 Main St., Warren. Burial will follow in St. Alexander Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Martha’s memory may be made to St. Alexander Church. VISITATION TUESDAY 4-8 PM
