

Amiss, Robert T., 87, of Bristol, passed away peacefully at home, January 15, 2015. He was the husband of Catherine (McDermott) Amiss, to whom he was married for 66 years. Born in Malden, MA, son of the late Eugene L. and Margaret (Broderick) Amiss, he lived in Riverside for 34 years before moving to Bristol in 1992.
Bob was a WWII Navy Veteran, serving on submarines, permanently assigned to the USS Queenfish SS393. After returning from the war, he received his MBA and established several successful businesses in manufacturing and transportation. He was a member of Submarine Vets, DAV and the URI Alumni Assoc. Bob loved to laugh, talk and spend time with his family. He was known for his great stories and love of life, and enjoyed traveling, reading and model making.
Besides his wife he is survived by his daughters, Catherine Bramley and her husband Alan, Barbara Alamo and her husband Ernest and Roberta Wright and her husband Douglas; grandchildren, Erika Irlbeck, James Hagerty, Robert Hagerty and Jenna Wright; and two great-grandchildren.
His funeral service will be Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 9:00 AM in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Wood St., Bristol, RI. Burial will be private. Calling hours Friday, 5-7 PM. Contributions may be made in his memory to Bristol Fire and Rescue.
