

On Thursday, December 31, 2015, Agnes Williams Galey passed away peacefully in Sandy Spring, MD. She was born April 17, 1920 in Fredericksburg, VA. Beloved wife of the late Thomas Allen (Jack) Galey. Devoted mother to Ronald (Joan) Galey of Ocean View, DE and Larry (Paz) Galey of Potomac, MD. Loving grandmother to Shannon (John) Ripley and Seamus, Bryan, Brady, Brendan, and Bryce Galey, and great-grandmother to Lily and Keegan Ripley. Preceded in death by six of her siblings, Agnes is survived by a sister, Louise Henderson of King George County, VA.
Agnes was a devout Christian who previously served as treasurer of Montrose Baptist Church in Rockville, MD and more recently was an active member of the Inter-Faith Chapel in Silver Spring, MD. She actively served her community as a member of the Kiwanis Club of Leisure World also in Silver Spring, MD. Agnes worked for the Federal Government during World War II, and retired from the Montgomery County (MD) Public School System.
Family and friends are invited to call at Joseph Gawler’s Sons, 5130 Wisconsin Avenue NW (corner of Harrison Street) Washington, DC on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the Joseph E Hagan Memorial Chapel at Joseph Gawler’s Sons, 5130 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington DC on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. A reception will immediately follow the service in the Eisenhower Room at Joseph Gawler’s Sons. Interment will be in Parklawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Montgomery Hospice, 1355 Piccard Drive, Suite 100, Rockville, MD 20850.
