Beloved husband of Patricia Erickson Caine of Washington, DC; father of John Dixon Caine, Julie Caine Chatelain, Kristina Noel Caine and Jennifer Anne Caine Leila; and grandfather of Lucienne Chatelain and John Marco Caine Leila. Played trumpet in a band and fought wilderness forest fires as a youth. U.S. Naval Academy Class of '47. Navy fighter pilot, gifted athlete and loyal friend. Celebrated his first hole-in-one in August 2006.
