
Beryl Taswell (Byman) passed away on July 1 in Chevy Chase, Maryland. Beryl was born on November 10, 1935. Over the course of her life she lived in Chicago, IL, Tucson, Arizona, Minnesota and London, England, as well as in Chevy Chase, where she resided for the past two years.
Over the course of her career, Beryl was an award winning radio producer, author, academic administrator, and school teacher. She loved the arts, cooking, and her family, to whom she was devoted. She was the mother of three sons, Martin Byman, David Byman, and Daniel Byman, from a first marriage, and six stepchildren from her late husband, Howard Taswell: Amy Taswell, Carl Taswell, Eric Taswell, Steve Taswell, Laura Wicks, and Ruth Taswell. Through these family members and their spouses, she had 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She cherished this extended family, as well as her sister, Ada Shenhait, and her late sister, Aviva Gordon, and her many close friends.
The family will remember Beryl at a service at 2:00 on July 3 at Kol Shalom in Rockville Maryland as well as in a service in Chicago that will be held in the coming months. Anyone who would like to make charitable donations in her memory should contact her family directly.
