Dana E. Surrey

Dana O'Conor Surrey Daly, a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and faithful friend passed away peacefully with family by her side on July 30, 2025 at the age of 93. She was born on January 21, 1932 in Washington, D.C. and resided in Chevy Chase, MD. She graduated from the Academy of the Holy Cross and attended university in Florida.She worked in the medical and real estate fields as well as managed The Elegant Needle in Washington, DC.

Dana, a woman of deep faith, volunteered with the Widowed Persons Service, Children's National Hospital and the altar guild at St.David's Episcopal Church in Washington. During her lifetime she was grateful for opportunities to travel the country and the world. She especially enjoyed her trips to China with her second husband, Walter Surrey.

She is survived by her beloved O'Conor family, her six children, Laura Chipley of Chevy Chase, MD; Kathy Hux of Kannapolis, NC; Ed O'Conor of Palmyra, VA; Tish O'Conor of Palmyra, VA; Stacy Johnson of Orange Park, FL, and Mary Sweetland of Marco Island, FL; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She also was grateful to get to know and love the Surrey family and the Daly family.

A visitation will be held at Devol Funeral Home, 2222 Wisconsin Avenue, Washington, DC on Monday, September 8, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a Service of Christian Burial offered on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Washington National Cathedral - Bethlehem Chapel, 3101 Wisconsin Avenue, NW, Washington, DC. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 13801 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD.
