A native of Washington, D.C., he was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and the University of Maryland. He was very proud of his service in both the Department of War and as a radio operator in the Merchant Marine during World War II. After leaving the service he started a small electronics store in Silver Spring which grew into Myer-Emco, with eleven retail stores in the Washington metropolitan area as well as a government division.
He is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Barbara Dormann, two children from his first marriage, Jon and Terry, seven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
The family would like to express their gratitude to his wonderful caregivers, especially Lito Santos, Matilda Kamara, Willow, Miguelito, and JSSA Hospice. Services will be private.
