I was fortunate to have met Georgia Franks when I started working at Steptoe & Johnson, and six of us decided to form the "lunch bunch" to celebrate our birthdays.  Georgia was fine with any restaurant we chose -- as along as it had linen napkins, no paper napkins for her. We enjoyed many lunches over the years, even after Georgia retired, the last one being just before Christmas 2011.  Although it was clear that her health was failing, she still brought us gifts of her delicious Greek pastries as she had for so many holidays.  She was not only a former co-worker, she was a dear friend, and she will be missed.

To everyone in the Franks and Tiches families. To me Georgia Franks was a pillar of Saints Constantine and Helen. She was an individual who unselfishly gave of herself to her family and her community. She was proud of her heritage and her faith and it was this pride that she shared with us when she taught us Sunday School. As a little girl I remember her as my Sunday School Teacher. As an adult I will always remember her as a role model, mentor and great symbol of what a "lady" should stand for. She even taught my children and they remember her from their experiences in Sunday School and seeing her at all the festivals of the Church.  Whether she served on school boards, church auditor committees or education committees; she served with knowledge and dignity. She was also a super "patriotissa" and I can never forget that my late husband always loved the whole family as they were "Maniates" and they were his people. She always greeted us with a smile and was always concerned if we were all well. She will be missed but her touch on our lives will never be forgotten. Rest in peace Miss Franks and know that we will all meet one day in the vineyard of the Lord and be able to share again.

I will always remember Koumbara as an important mentor to her godchild, Natalia.  She was not only a strong believer in her faith but she always upheld her principals on any issue. I was so sorry to hear about the passing of Georgia Franks.  She was an interesting person and she had a great sense of humor.  She will be missed.

Aunt Georgis, we will miss your strong convictions, your good humor, and especially your love for all of us!

Aunt Georgia is doing a "grab bag" for all the kiddies in heaven!!!!

Hearing about Aunt Georgia's passing released a flood of memories of joyful and sad moments shared. Mom, Mary Mikedes, felt that the Franks girls were more like sisters than cousins. That closeness and respect is shared by the next generation as well. We will remember Aunt Georgia's grace, strength and humor along with her devotion to her faith and family. Our thoughts and prayers are with our Franks and Tiches cousins.

Georgia was my Nona. Growing up she helped me in understanding what faith and devotion meant. She was a devout Greek Orthodox Christian and the love of her church, Sts. Constantine and Helen Church, she had a lot to offer me. 

As an adult, we had many discussions over lunch in her most loved city, Washington D.C. Our common bond was the love of cities, hers DC, mine San Francisco, and the life that is  offered in such places. She was one of the smartest women I have ever met. I will never forget when she retired "reluctantly" because the use of computers were pushing her out. She said, "what is this spell check, I don't need spell check, I know how to spell!". 

Nona, I will miss you deeply and will carry with me all your advice and love always.

On behalf of the Mantis, Papadopoulos, and Coffey families, I offer sincere condolences to Franks family on the passing of Georgia. Georgia was an enduring and dear friend of my late mother, Archontoula Mantis Papadopoulos. As young girls they sang in the Church Choir together and later, Georgia served as my Sunday School teacher for many years. She was devoted selflessly to the church and family, and was a kind and sympathetic friend. She will hold a special place in our hearts forever.

Aunt Georgia left this world the way she lived it - with grace and dignity. She lived by her strong set of convictions. A fervent orthodox christian, she lived the Faith and perpetuated it theough her many years of work in her most-loved Sts. Constantine and Helen. She embodied all that was good about her country. At the same time as she was fiercely independent, she commanded to be treated with chivalry. She prided in her minority gender and party- affilliation status as a resident of the District of Columbia. She loved her city as much as anything and thrived in it professionally, socially and culturally. Most importantly, she shared this love and all her wit and all her convictions and all her experiences with all of us. We love you, Aunt Georgia and will maintain your memory with the same determination you lived your life. ????a ? ???µ?
