Iris Jacques Haresign

On July 22, 2025, Iris Jacques Haresign of Washington, D.C. passed away peacefully with family by her side. Beloved wife of the late Walter Richard Haresign; devoted mother of David T. (Patricia L.) Haresign and Sharon H. (Douglas) Throckmorton; grandmother of David Christopher (Kerrianne Conn) and Michael Haresign and Ryan (Moreen) and Patrick Throckmorton; and great grandmother of Henry Throckmorton. Iris was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on October 6, 1929. Iris’s siblings, Carol, Frank and Jean Jacques all predeceased their sister. Iris met and married her soul mate, Walter in 1948 in Norfolk, and moved permanently to Northern Virginia in 1960. Iris periodically worked with the Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Company, and raised her family. Iris was a dedicated mother, working with the CYO at Our Lady of Good Counsel, attending her children’s sports events and teaching her children about crafts, cooking and interior design. Iris and her family were founding members of St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Vienna, VA. Iris moved to the Residences at Thomas Circle, Washington, DC in 2012, and to Sunrise on Connecticut Avenue in 2020. Iris was celebrated at a Memorial Mass on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at 1pm at St. Ann Catholic Church, 4001 Yuma Street, NW, Washington, DC 20016. Iris will later be interred at a private service with her late husband Walter.
