

James Patrick Nash died Thursday, April 13, 2017. A graduate of Gonzaga H.S., he enlisted in the Army at age 18 and served in World War II. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and assisted in the liberation of Europe. Following WW II, he attended Georgetown University, achieving his J.D. He served as a DOD Contract Attorney for 24 years at the Pentagon, then as a teacher and groundskeeper for The Heights School in subsequent years.
He was blessed with a loving wife and partner for more than 61 years, Patricia Hunter Nash, and eight children…Ellen Nash Foster (Tim), Mary (Mimi) Nash Somerville (Scott), James Kearney Nash, Margaret (Peggy) Nash Iraola (Roberto), Francis Joseph Nash (Jenny), George Michael Nash (Michelle), Jerome Hunter Nash (Susan), Patrick Carroll Nash (Emily). He was affectionately known as “Pop-Pop” to 19 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, and “Uncle Jim” to Carroll Hoskins Michaels, and Susan Hoskins Roggenkamp.
He was a devout Catholic, a parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Church for more than 57 years, and a lifelong Washingtonian. A humble and private man, he lived a life of purpose and unwavering faith.
Wake at 10am, on Monday, April 17 at The Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament (3630 Quesada Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20015), followed by a Funeral Mass at 11am. Burial will immediately follow the service at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
