

Jon Lewis Hunter, age 63, of Bethesda MD, died on March 8, 2012 of stroke complications. He was the loving son of Thomas William Hunter, who predeceased him on April 18, 1979 and is now survived by his beloved and precious mother, Henrietta H. Hunter, and his sister, Barbara Hunter Woltman, both of Bethesda, MD, as well as one nephew, Thomas Edward Woltman, of Ohio, who was his great pride and joy. He also leaves many cousins.
Jon represented the WHBG Radio Station in VA as their Washington, DC correspondent, along with having a “Press Pass for Life,” giving him the opportunity to meet newsworthy figures from around the world. He truly enjoyed his many visits to the mountains at the Shenandoah National Park.
Jon worked for the Government for 37 years, including NIH, the Department of Defense and the Department of the Interior, located in Washington, DC. He attended Grace Episcopal Church and Fourth Presbyterian Church, both in Maryland. Jon enjoyed his family to the fullest, and will be greatly missed. It was both a privilege and an honor to be part of his life.
Funeral arrangements have been made at Joseph Gawler’s Sons Funeral Home, 5130 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC, 20016, (202)966-6400. Services will be held at the Gawler’s Memorial Chapel on Sunday, March 11, 2012. Visitation will begin at 3:30 p.m., followed by the Memorial Service in the chapel at 4:30 p.m. Inurnment will be at Parklawn Memorial Park, 12800 Veirs Mill Road, Rockville, MD 20848, at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Jon's favorite charities, the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society .
