On August 13, 2021, Jorge Litvak 92, died peacefully at his home in Bethesda, Maryland. Beloved husband of Paula Litvak; loving father of Joanna (Grant), Alexandra (Oliver), and Juan Pablo (Christiane); cherished Tata of grandsons Nate, Alex, Nick, Zack, and Theo. He was born on May 2nd, 1929 in Antofagasta, Chile to Mauricio and Juanita. He was the last survivor of four brothers: Mario, Sergio, and Agustin with whom he remained close throughout their lives.
He graduated from the University of Chile School of Medicine where he later became the youngest professor of medicine, dean of the medical school, and eventually was named provost of his beloved university. This brought him great pride. He moved his family to Washington D.C. in 1974 where he had an illustrious career at the World Health Organization leading efforts against non-communicable diseases in Latin America.
