Joyce Keogh Farr

With great sadness the family of Joyce Keogh Farr announces her passing on May 22, 2016. Born September 19, 1937 in the District of Columbia to Margaret duFief Reed and Michael Francis Keogh. Devoted wife of Harry Hull Farr, real estate developer, whom she married in Our Lady of Victory on May 30, 1960. She is survived by her four children, Michael Keogh Farr (Laurie Fishburn), Washington, DC; Mary Joyce Farr Colwell (Todd), Westport, CT; Stephanie Farr Lennon (Daniel), Washington, DC; Julia Farr Connolly, Bethesda, MD, and eleven grand children Amélie, Robert, Margaret, Margot, Lucy, Joyce, Elizabeth, Beatrice, Cecilia, Katherine, and Peter. She is also survived by her sisters, Katherine du Fief Keogh and Adele Keogh Cahill (Robert).

Joyce was a student of Stone Ridge of the Sacred Heart where she was valedictorian before attending Manhattanville College of the Sacred Heart where she was graduated summa cum laude. She received her Masters of Science and Linguistics at Georgetown University. She taught French at Stone Ridge of the Sacred Heart for seventeen years. Joyce was a member of the Chevy Chase Club, Chevy Chase, MD, Sulgrave Club, Washington, DC, Rehoboth Beach Country Club, Rehoboth, DE, Royal Poinciana Golf Club, Naples, FL. She was a member of the Women’s Committee of the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the Perennial Garden Club, several French clubs and enjoyed painting, gardening, and needlepointing. From 1946 on, her summers were spent in Rehoboth Beach, DE, and from 1995 on, her winters were spent in Naples, FL, where she had been a resident from many years.

Friends may call at the Joseph Gawler's Sons, 5130 Wisconsin Ave NW, Washington, DC 20016 on on May 25, 2016 from 4 to 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 1 p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 3513 N Street, NW, Washington, DC 20007 followed by an interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 1300 Bladensburg Road, NE, Washington, DC 20002.
