Katherine Cole Headline

A resident of Bethesda, Maryland, passed away peacefully June 12, 2015 at Sibley Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Headline was born Katherine Jean Cole in New York and was raised in Westchester County. She attended Skidmore College and graduated from New York University in 1967.

Her first marriage to Ivan Sabel ended in divorce. She was predeceased by her husband William Wentworth Headline. She is survived by two daughters, Caroline Sabel Pence (Peter) of Summit, NJ, and Amy Sabel of Los Angeles, CA, and three granddaughters, Lily, Sydney and Lauren Pence. She is also survived by her sister, Emily Meisler of Los Angeles, CA.

Mrs. Headline's earlier career included her appointment as the Assistant Under Secretary of Agriculture during the Reagan Administration. She then went on to work on many projects at the National Zoo in Washington, DC, reflective of her love for animals. Most recently she was a photo researcher for several local museums and book projects.

A private memorial service will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends of The National Zoo Attention: Commemorative Bench Program P.O.
