

Dr. Marguerite C. Regan of Silver Spring, MD, passed peacefully in her home on August 14, 2016 after a courageous 21-year battle with Waldenstrom''s Macroglobulinemia, a rare type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
Marguerite touched the lives of so many people and will be deeply missed. Born in Chicago, Illinois in 1936, she is forever a Boilermaker, having received her Ph.D. in Political Science from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. She was a devoted educator and inspiring teacher and mentor to both her students and her colleagues. She is a former high school social studies teacher and department chairperson for the Chicago Public School System, and for over 20 years she developed cutting-edge curriculum for elementary school, middle school, high school and college students as Envision EMI''s Dean of Academic Affairs. Marguerite also served as a policy analyst for the President''s Intergovernmental Advisory Council on Education.
Marguerite is preceded in death by her parents, Major General Lawrence V. Regan, Sr. and Marguerite J. Regan, and her brothers, Lawrence Jr. and Robert "Bob" Regan. She is survived by her niece, Susan Casper (Michael); nephew, John Regan (Rene), great-nieces Kelly and Maggie Casper and Kristin Regan, and great-nephew, Tyler Regan.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 24 at 1 p.m. in the chapel at Joseph Gawler''s Sons Funeral Home, 5130 Wisconsin Avenue, NW, Washington, DC. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you support a cancer research organization of your choice and celebrate Marguerite''s life with laughter and shared memories.
