Maria Teresa T. de A. Greenwald

November 18, 1947 - June 6, 2014

On June 6, 2014, MARIA TERESA GREENWALD died suddenly. Born in Braga, Portugal, she and her husband, John Greenwald met in Lisbon, Portugal. She came to the United States in 1972 the year they were married and after a brief period in New York they moved to Washington, DC where Teresa began working at the Embassy of Portugal. She mothered four children, Nick, Xico, Kitty and Johnny all of whom she adored. Teresa was an uncommonly elegant, warm, kind, generous and loving lady, who devoted her life, even when working, to her family. The latest additions to it, her grandchildren, Imogen, Fabian and Jack, held a special place in her heart. She was much loved, and will be much missed by her husband, her four children, her two daughters-in-law, her three grandchildren and all her family and friends both here and in Portugal. She is now at peace. It is for us to honor her memory by living up to her ideals.

Services will be held in Teresa's memory at JOSEPH GAWLER'S SONS, 5130 Wisconsin Ave., NW, Washington, DC at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 14. In lieu of flowers, donations in Teresa's name made to the Community of Hope, Smile Train or WETA would be much appreciated by the family.
