

Mark Joseph Navolio passed away in Bethesda, Md, on March 28th, 2025, in his 63rd year. Loving husband of 25 years to Valerie, beloved father of Isabelle Thu Suong, Anthony Mark Thai Son, Mathieu John Thanh Long and Stefan Michel An Binh. Son of the late John Navolio Jr and Isabel (Scarnato) who currently lives in Potomac, Md. Brother of Cindy (Navolio) Dellinger of Kensington Md, John Navolio III of Chevy Chase Md, Gregory Navolio of Urbana Md, Patrick Navolio of Pawleys Island SC, Christopher Navolio of Apex NC and Kevin Navolio of Myrtle Beach, NC.
Mark was born on March 7, 1962, in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, the third of seven children. He was preceded in death by his father John who was a steel worker from western Pennsylvania. Mark enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he was deployed to Panama during the 1980’s. Mark attended college at Penn State University and George Washington University after which he pursued work in the telecommunications industry, designing cell tower antennas. He started his own engineering and professional services company with his wife in 2007.,
Mark had a zest for life. He traveled and worked extensively in Europe, Colombia, Canada, Israel and England during his thirties. He met his future bride Valerie in Paris, France. After living in London, UK and starting a family with her there, he brought her and their first two children to the United States where they established a home in Bethesda, Md. Mark was very proud of his family with Valerie growing to four children. Their two oldest, Isabelle and Anthony, are midshipmen at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis (Isabelle commissioning as a submariner, Anthony planning on joining the Marine Corps).
Mathieu is graduating from high school with honors while Stefan, the youngest, will be finishing his first year of primary school. All children have been students at Rochambeau, The French International School in Bethesda. Mark’s children were very close to their “papa” and were with him during his final days at home.
Mark was well-read and loved people, making him a wonderful conversationalist, even in the French language. Given his breadth of knowledge, experiences, and keen curiosity, he was seasoned on various topics, from history to politics, to science. He could espouse on different causes, while being an intense listener, always taking the other person’s perspective into consideration before responding. Mark was a true-people person and people loved his company.
Mark was a member of the St Louis de France Roman Catholic church in Bethesda, Md. Services for Mark will take place 14 April, 11:00 at St Jane de Chantal church, Old Georgetown Rd, Bethesda.
