On August 14th, 2021, Nancy Turner Hanna 74 of Bethesda, Maryland, passed away peacefully in her home with her daughters by her side. Nancy is survived by her daughter Susan Hanna of Boston, her daughter Brooke Irving, son in law Scott Irving and granddaughter Madison Irving of Ngunguru New Zealand, five nieces and nephews and their spouses who were more like her brothers and sisters, five great nieces and nephews and their spouses, and one great great nephew.
She was known for her infectious personality, love of life and her contagious laugh. Nancy was a native Washingtonian who loved entertaining, playing bridge, animals and had a competitive streak for any card or board game. She loved her friends and her Sumner Village community with their Thirsty Thursdays and Solstice parties. She enjoyed traveling the world from Alaska to New Zealand to Europe and Africa. One of the things she enjoyed the most was the beach whether it was in Maryland, New Zealand or Nantucket. If her toes were in the sand, cocktail in hand and she could hear the waves crashing, she was content. She was not only the matriarch of the family but was a mother figure to countless others. She will be deeply missed but her legacy will live on through those she loved. The Hanna family will be hosting a private celebration of life.
