

Died after a long illness on March 4, 2016. Ms. Baumer lived much of her adult life in New York City and subsequently moved to Washington D.C. She was born in West Point, New York on July 7, 1941. Ms. Baumer grew up in Washington during her early years, and later lived in Westfield, N.J. with her family. After graduating from Dunbarton College of the Holy Cross in Washington D.C. in 1965, she moved to New York City where she worked for many years as a writer and editor in the world of finance. She began her career in the early 1970''s as a writer for Merrill Lynch''s Investors'' Reader, received her Master''s degree in Finance from Fordham University, worked briefly in banking with Lloyds Bank and the European American Bank in New York, and spent six years as managing editor of "The Banker's Magazine" published by Warren, Gorham, and Lamont. After moving to Washington, Ms. Baumer worked in 1995 and 1996 as a writer/editor with the International Finance Corporation, an affiliate of the World Bank, producing its annual report in English, French, and Spanish. She later worked for the International Monetary Fund as a writer/editor of economics publications until her retirement in 2005. Natalie was a devoted sister, aunt, and godmother - and a consistent source of love and encouragement to her family and dear friends. She will be greatly missed by her three sisters, Winifred Dowling of El Paso, Texas; Marjorie Mulloy (Patrick) of Alexandria, Virginia; and Carol Piirto (John) of The Villages, Florida, as well as by her brother, Ken Casey (Catherine Baumer) of Falls Church, VA. She also will be dearly missed by her four nieces (and goddaughters), two nephews, and five grand nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, in the Joseph E. Hagan Chapel at Joseph Gawler''s Sons, 5130 Wisconsin Avenue in Washington DC. Immediately following the service, all are invited to greet the family during a reception to be held in the Lafayette Room also at Joseph Gawler''s Sons. In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be directed to the charity of one''s choice
