He leaves his wife of nearly 52 years, Morrilou (Davis) Morell, his children, Adam Morell (Kirsten), and Abigail Jones (Malachi). He is also survived by his three siblings; Randy Morell, Richard Morell, Kohanna Miller, four grandsons; Reed, Bryce, Lucas and Carter, and his mother, Caroline Morell.
Born in Washington, DC, the son of Rufus Coy and Caroline Morell, he was raised in Maryland and spent the majority of his life as a resident of Montgomery County.
In 1960, he joined the Army. Almost immediately after returning to civilian life, he met his wife, Morrilou Davis, and they eloped after a 3-week courtship. Shortly after the birth of his son, Mr. Morell began working at District Photo, Inc. in Beltsville, Maryland. He remained with the company for 42 years and, amazingly, took only two sick days during that time. Throughout his career, he was promoted several times, and eventually his expertise and reputation resulted in him leading the sizeable information technology department.
In addition to attending the innumerable sporting events in which his kids took part, Mr. Morell had a passion for classic cars. He was a member of the Porsche Club of America and enjoyed attending classic car shows.
A service will take place Friday, February 12, 2016 at 1:30pm at Joseph Gawler's Sons
5130 Wisconsin Ave. NW Washington, DC. He will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the ALS Association at http://www.alsa.org/.
