The daughter of Howard Zipperian and Eleanor Swanson Zipperian Brooks, Dorothy was born on September 17, 1940 in Glen Cove, NY. She grew up in Sea Cliff, N.Y.
Dorothy earned a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from SUNY Geneseo. For 30 years, Dorothy was a dedicated third grade teacher at Temple Hill Academy for the Newburgh Enlarged City School District. Dorothy was an avid reader, gardener and a member of the Cornwall Garden Club. Dorothy and her late husband of 51 years, Wendell, enjoyed traveling all over the United States, as well as overseas to various European countries and cities. Being children at heart, their magical place where they spent most of their vacations and their second home was Walt Disney World.
Dorothy G. Brooks is survived by her son, Michael MacKenzie Brooks and wife Judith and grandchildren, MacKenzie Marie and Emily Grace of Washingtonville, NY.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 21, 2023 from 12-4PM at David T. Ferguson Funeral Home, 20 North Street, Washingtonville, NY. A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 3PM during the visitation also at David T. Ferguson Funeral Home. Committal is private.
