Edith Farias

Edith Farias of Washingtonville, NY, age 88 entered into rest September 10, 2012 at Wingate at Beacon with her family by her side. She was born in Alzey, Germany on February 8, 1924 to Jakob and Margarete Hering Brand. Edith was the widow of Humberto “John” Farias. Edith was a retired Nurse’s Aide. A loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother whose family meant the world to her. She loved her family in a very special way and enjoyed family gatherings in her home. Edith was active with St. Mary’s Church, an avid runner who competed in 26 marathons and received many awards for running. A member of the Orange County Roadrunners club as well as the NYC Roadrunners Club. Edith also supported the local Arts. She is survived by Children Christopher Farias of Pleasant Valley, NY, Greg Farias of Ellicott City, MD, Margaret and her husband Barry Sollish of Bluffton, SC, Shirley and her husband Charles Conklin of Penfield, NY, Isabel DeMars of Southbury, CT, Diane and her husband Nicky Sellazzo of Wallkill, NY, Michelle and her husband Neil Kosilla of Fishkill, NY, Gabrielle and her husband Paul Crandall of Plymouth MI and Stephanie and her husband Michael Williams of New Windsor, NY; a sister Margaret Brand of Mainz, Germany twenty six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Edith is predeceased by her husband Humberto “John” Farias and her sister Helen Brand Kanas. Visitation will be Thursday, September 13, 2012 from 5-8PM at the David T. Ferguson Funeral Home, 20 North St, Washingtonville, NY 10992. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 14, 2012 at 10AM at St. Mary’s Church, Washingtonville, NY. Burial will immediately follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Washingtonville, NY.
