

Joseph T. Boylan of the Village of South Blooming Grove, NY entered into rest on October 13, 2011 at home. He was born in the Bronx on June 16, 1930, to Walter H. and Dorothy Katzenberger Boylan. Joseph was the devoted husband of Ethel M. O’Brien Boylan. Joseph was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle. He was a retired lieutenant with the NYC Fire Department 28 truck 69 Engine "Harlem Hilton", a member of the Retired Firemans Association of the Hudson Valley, NYC Fire Officers Association, Past Lector and past member of the Holy Name Society and Nocturnal Adoration Society all of St. Mary’s Church in Washingtonville, NY. Joseph was also an avid golfer. He is survived by his wife, Ethel M. Boylan of South Blooming Grove, sons: Joseph T. Jr. and his wife, Susan Boylan of Tyler, Texas; Robert J. Boylan and Life Partner, James T. Norman of Easton, PA; Christopher W. and his wife, Kim Boylan of Washingtonville, NY; daughter: Kathleen B. and her husband, Chris W. Minerly of Farmington, CT; grandchildren: Lindsay, Charis, Joshua, Katie, Stephen, Matthew, SarahBeth, Daniel, Bryan, Kaela, Vera, and Erin; great grandchildren: Tyler, Logan, Caiden, Eden and Griffin; sisters: Dorothy and her husband, Edward “Buddy” Claxton of LaBelle, Fl; Elaine McGurk of Greenfield Park, NY; and Gertrude and her husband, Henry Kuykendall of LaBelle, Fl. He was pre-deceased by two sisters, Florence Blackwell and Edna Whitemore. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 17, 2011 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the David T. Ferguson Funeral Home, Washingtonville, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at St. Mary’s Church in Washingtonville. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Washingtonville. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Salvation Army at https://donate.salvationarmyusa.org or your local 9/11 Memorial Fund.
