Joseph Dolson of Green Island, NY formerly of Washingtonville, passed away at home on Thursday, March 4, 2021. He was 66. Joseph attended Winston Salem State College, NC and S.U.N.Y. Buffalo. He was retired from the Stratton VA Medical Center, Albany NY retiring in 2017.
Joseph was born on January 18, 1955 to the late John and Louise (Turner) Dolson. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Natasha LeAnn Dolson, son Telly DeShawn Johnson, and step daughter, Taisha Ann Mann; caring sisters and bother, Juanita Dolson Floyd, Bernadette Dolson, and Reginald Dolson; and his cherished grandson Malachi Joseph Gaskins. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He is predeceased by his brother Allan Dolson.
Joseph was a proud Army Veteran serving his country for six years. He was an avid mobile mechanic: a skill he learned from his grandfather; a sports enthusiast: playing little league baseball, high school soccer, basketball, and track. Joey loved fishing with his Dad, other family and friends.
With a generosity of Christian spirit, Joey faithfully attended Hope Chapel, Salisbury Mills, NY and the Good Shepard Church, Green Island, NY. He volunteered to read scripture, and was never failing in providing for the food pantry.
All who knew Joey, new him to be a beautiful human being who lived his faith vibrantly with respect, kindness, and joy - A man of genuine Christian character. As one cousin said on his passing, “Joey was the cousin everybody loved”. The last time Joey was in church he left saying, “I love you...but God loves you more.”
Memorial visitation will be on Saturday March 13, 2021 from 2-4 pm at David T. Ferguson Funeral Home, 20 North Street, Washingtonville, New York 10992. Prayer service with Zoom will be Saturday March 13, at 4pm David T Ferguson Funeral Home. In Lieu of flowers donation can be made to Country Kids Food Pantry , 2 Fr.
