Lea Packer of Washingtonville, NY entered into rest on December 21, 2010 at Cornwall Hospital. She was 85.
She was born in Bronx, NY on December 3, 1925 to Leo Ciurcovich and Lydia Colazio. She graduated from Memorial High School in West New York, NJ and went on to form a dancing group with her two sisters, Leda and Lilly, affectionately known as “The three L's”.
Lea lived and breathed for her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Lea was an avid Yankee fan who loved to cook, bake and go fishing as well as playing board games and cards and watching SNL, DWTS, and her soaps. Known as the family photographer, she enjoyed taking pictures and videos at every gathering. She looked forward to her weekly visit to the salon where her friends referred to her as Princess Lea. Never seen without her sunglasses, this was her signature look.
She is survived by her loving husband, Stanley Packer of Washingtonville, NY; sons Robert and his wife, Mimi Basso of Ridgewood, NJ, Richard and his wife, Christina Basso of Salisbury Mills, NY and John and his wife, Jeanne Basso of Nashville, TN; David and his wife, Maureen Packer of Danbury, CT; sisters, Leda and her husband, Gene Brophy of KY and Lilly Gisondi of IL; grandchildren: Melisa Coyman, Christopher Basso, Adrienne and Corey Weissman, Rob and Allison Basso, Michael Basso, Andrew Basso, Alex, Danielle and Matthew Basso, and Jude and Max Packer; great-grandchildren: Logan and Aidan Coyman and Robbie Basso.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, December 27 at David T. Ferguson Funeral Home, 20 North St., Washingtonville, NY. Funeral Services will be held at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 28 at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in George Washington Memorial Cemetery in Paramus, NJ.
