Leonard William Bernstein, 67, of Campbell Hall, New York, passed away on February 9, 2026. Born on April 24, 1958, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Bernard Milton Bernstein and Mildred Bernstein (née Bachinsky), Len grew up in Nanuet, New York, before settling in Orange County in 1986, where he would call home for the rest of his life. Len built a life defined by laughter, connection, and an unmistakable joy for living.
Len built a successful career spanning more than 30 years in sales, working for Pfizer, Staples, and BJ's. A natural-born salesman with an infectious personality he earned trips, awards, and the admiration of colleagues along the way. He loved the corporate cars that came with the territory, and he was a great driver behind the wheel of every one of them — though nothing quite compared to his '96 Corvette.
Ask anyone who knew him, and they'd tell you Len's real talent was living. A "man of leisure," Len understood that life was meant to be enjoyed — and he made sure everyone around him enjoyed it, too. He loved vacations, especially cruises. He loved concerts, Broadway and sporting events of every kind. He loved a good restaurant, where he'd charm the staff with small talk and leave everyone smiling.
Len always had a plan. A show, a trip, a dinner — always something to look forward to. He was already planning the next outing while still enjoying the current one.
As a big college football fan and proud graduate of Indiana University, Len delighted in watching his Hoosiers win the College Football National Championship this season.
Len is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen Tower-Bernstein; his daughter, Kelly; his son, Michael and his wife Valentina; his cherished grandchildren, Benjamin, David, and Sara; and his sister, Liz Keating. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Mildred.
Len’s family invites all who knew him to gather, remember, and, as Len would have wanted, share a smile.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 4:00–7:30 PM at the David T. Ferguson Funeral Home, 20 North Street, Washingtonville, NY. A Prayer Service will follow at 7:30 PM.
