Mary H. Merritt of Washingtonville, NY entered into rest on February 11, 2010 at home.

She was born in Nyack, NY on November 4, 1936 to Timothy and Loretto (Conboy) Hanley.

She was a homemaker. Mary was an accomplished pianist, a devoted Giants fan and adored helping raise her grandchildren. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister.

Mary was the widow of Adrian C. "Sparky" Merritt.

She is survived by her son, Stephen and his wife, Barbara E. Merritt of Portsmouth, VA; daughters: Mary Ellen and Tony Rogulski of Salisbury Mills, Sarah "Sallie" Merritt of Rock Tavern, Peggy and her husband, Robert Sanford of Hopewell Junction, and Lorraine "Rainey" Butler of Washingtonville; sisters: Jane and her husband, Tom Quinlan of Pearl River, Ann Forrestal of Wyckoff, NJ, Lorette and her husband, Wilbur Youngheim of Duxbury, MA and Lorraine Hanley of Boston, MA; and grandchildren: James and his wife, Corrine Rogulski, Matthew Rogulski, Stephen VIII, Jillian and Michael Merritt, Ashley and Brittany Sanford, Eric and Brianna Butler. She was predeceased by two brothers, Thomas and Lawrence Hanley.

Visitation will be held today, Friday, February 12, from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at David T. Ferguson Funeral Home, 20 North St., Washingtonville.

Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, February 13, 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Washingtonville. Cremation will be private.

In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made in Mary's name to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, Inc., 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.
