Richard P. Worthington was born and lived in Union City, NJ as a child until his parents moved to Emerson, NJ where he attended Assumption Elementary School, followed by attending Don Bosco Preparatory High School for two years, then to Emerson High School. He then attended college to study architecture, and from there began his work career in various companies as a purchasing agent and facilities management director.
Richard enjoyed playing baseball, football and other athletic sports during his teenage years. He also became part of a band known as Mobly during his youth and was a drummer for several years. He loved rock n roll music and listened to Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, the Rolling Stones and several other rock groups.
Richard immensely loved being in country settings with mountain and lake views, and ultimately built his own summer home as a retreat in the Adirondacks. He spent time enjoying nature with his children such as swimming, fishing, and taking long rides on his Gold Wing motorcycle. And in the winter, enjoyed skiing and riding their four-wheelers. He also enjoyed trips to the Caribbean, sailing and scuba diving with friends and family.
He had many friends and family that loved him so very much, and he will be greatly missed by all. His sense of humor was the best and most contagious. As his wife of 33 years, I will forever have his smile, laughter and love deep in my heart.
He is survived by his beloved wife Cynthia Worthington from New Windsor, NY, his two sons and their wives, Richard Worthington and Stacy Worthington from Emerson, NJ, and Christopher Worthington and Deborah Harrison from Montgomery, NY, Michael Porraspita from Middletown, NY, and his grandchildren, Emma Worthington, Mia Worthington, Owen Worthington, Justice Worthington, Kira Anderson, and Ephraim Anderson.
