Robert Louis Anderson of New Windsor, NY and St. Cloud, FL, died July 22, 2010. He was 74.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joan (Rubino) Anderson.
A lifelong resident of Beaver Dam Lake, he passed away from congestive heart failure at the Montgomery Nursing Home in Montgomery.
Bob was born September 6, 1935 in Staten Island, NY, to the late John and Anna Anderson. He served in the U.S. military for over 40 years. He honorably served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict from 1953-57, and after his discharge from active duty, he served in the U.S Air Force Reserves from 1958-73.
From 1973-86, he served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He worked full-time as a Federal Technician for the U.S. Army Reserves from 1961-94 as a crew chief and rotary mechanic on the UH-1 helicopter. From 1986 until his retirement in 1995, he was a fixed wing mechanic and a quality assurance inspector on the C-5A Galaxy aircraft and a member of the 105th Airlift Wing at Stewart Air National Guard Base, retiring as a Master Sergeant.
- After a long and distinguished military career, he enjoyed an active retirement spending winters in Florida. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife and spending time with his eight grandchildren. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop 416 and both the New Windsor and Washingtonville Little League organizations. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Washingtonville and St. Thomas Aquinas Church in St. Cloud, FL.
He was a loving husband and wonderful father and grandfather. In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his three sons and their families: Lance and his wife, Jennifer of Grand Forks, ND, and their children: Joshua, Kylie, Cassidy and Brady; Todd and his wife, Michele of Orlando, FL, and their children: TJ, Chandler and Logan; Keith and his wife, Terri of Jupiter, FL, and their son Jack.
Visitation will take place on Monday, July 26, from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at David T. Ferguson Funeral Home, 20 North St., Washingtonville, NY 10992.
A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 27, at 10 a.m., and he will be laid to rest with full military honors at 11:30 a.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 5468 Route 9W North in Newburgh.
