Sagar was, in every essence, the American dream. Born in Trinidad, he worked tirelessly building and running his business with the help of his mother. Intent on making it to America, he saved every penny until he had enough to repay his parents and buy a one way ticket.
Sagar graduated from TCI college at the top of his class while driving a taxi full time and starting a family. To say Sagar was ambitious would be an understatement. He was extremely successful while working in the corporate world spending much of that time rising through the ranks of Castrol USA. While at Castrol, he created a side business fixing personal computers that began to flourish. Sagar, with his wife’s unshakable confidence and willingness to help, took a gamble and opened a computer repair store. Opened in 1995, for 26 years Simply Computer Services was a staple in the community of Washingtonville. He loved fixing their computers and forming life long bonds. Sagar’s proudest moment was buying the “most beautiful historic building in the center of the village” as he said. A village he truly loved.
Sagar had an undeniable connection and appreciation for music. Both a talented musician and life long DJ, his ability to get a room full of people up and dancing was unmatched. Friends and family leaned on him for entertainment because his knack for music paired with his contagious smile and gentle heart could lift any mood and warm any heart. Sagar could make a good time great and a great time unforgettable.
Nothing meant more to Sagar than his family. He cherished the weekly conversations with his brothers and sisters and loved nothing more than having some good laughs with his children on “club deck”. Friday nights at home were some of his favorite nights. He’d blast his calypso music and dance around the kitchen with his “Joanie”. But above all else, nothing came before his grandchildren. His love for them was unconditional in its purest form.
As we tread through life, most create ripples but Sagar created waves. Those who knew Sagar considered themselves lucky to have been drenched in his glow, swept away by his love.
