Born on February 23, 1944, in Florence, S.C. To the late Paul and Elizabeth(Alford)
Tom, a retired New York City police officer and 9/11 first responder dedicated much of his life to serving others.
Tom was a devoted family man, cherished as a loving
father to his children and is survived by: Christine Latimer and husband Tommy Latimer, Michael Matovic and his wife Danielle Matovic, Brian Matovic, and Thomas Matovic Jr. Tom loved his role as Pop-Pop to his seven grandchildren: Alexandra, Emily, Joseph, Sean, Alaina, Juliana and Sierra. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Maureen Matovic (12/17/45 - 12/25/2023). They married in New York City in 1965, moved to Salisbury Mills in 1971, and were married for 58 years.
Everyone that knew Tom would tell you he found great happiness in simple pleasures like strumming his guitar with friends and family, and casting fishing lines, with friends and family. He will be truly missed by many, and remembered by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held at David T. Ferguson Funeral Home, 20 North Street, Washingtonville, New York 10992, on March 12, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Mary's Church, 42 Goshen Ave, Washingtonville, New York 10992, on March 13, 2026, at 11:00 am.
Interment will be private on March 13, 2026.
