

David P. Thorne, 83, died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2022, peacefully at home. He was born, November 19, 1939, in Westbrook, Maine, the son of Maurice and Leada (Vassar) Thorne. He was educated in Westbrook and Waterville schools and was a graduate of Waterville Sr. High School, class of 1958. He attended Thomas College, as well as Cardinal Cushing School in Boston and served in the Army National Guard.
David was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waterville, a member of the Waterville Rotary, bowling league and a member of Natanis Golf Course for many years. He enjoyed several activities including cooking, snowmobiling, ice-fishing, Nascar and the New England Patriots. He had a love for Jazz music, which was always playing in the background. He worked for several companies including Bolton Smart, Sexton, Swift and then embarked on starting his own landscaping company, The Lawn Clinic, which was his lifelong passion.
David is predeceased by his wife Mary (Reny), his parents, as well as his twin sister Diane (Colford) and his brother Donald.
Surviving are his two children, Kevin Thorne and his wife Donna of Belgrade, and Karen Ryan and her husband Michel of Shrewsbury, Mass; three grandchildren, Nicholas and his wife Heather, Patrick and his wife Amanda, and Michael and his fiancé Madison; three great grandchildren Caidyn, Brayden and Lainey; one brother Robert of Spring Hill, Florida; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Wednesday, January 11 at St. John Catholic Church in Winslow. A burial will be held in the Spring at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Waterville.
