Doria E. Drouin

WINSLOW - Doria E. (Marcoux) Drouin, age 83, formerly of 10 Halifax Street, Winslow, passed away in the early morning of Sunday, October 28, 2012, following a long confinement with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born in Winslow on July 14, 1929, the elder daughter of Joseph A. and Rosa D. (Fredette) Marcoux.

Mrs. Drouin attended Winslow schools and was a proud graduate of Winslow High School, class of 1947. She was happily employed by Joseph A. Roy Real Estate from circa 1961 until the business closed in 1991. After retirement, she continued to work occasionally, most recently for Deane Nason’s Century 21 Real Estate in Winslow.

For many years she was an active member of the Fairfield V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, serving as Treasurer for several years and as president in 1974-1975. She was a lifelong communicant of St. John the Baptist church of Corpus Christi Parish in Winslow.

Doria was a very outgoing, social lady who loved spending time with her children, her siblings and their families, and her many friends. She enjoyed traveling and with her close friend Gloria Osborne, she visited many major cities and attractions in the US and Canada and participated in tours of France and Ireland.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Fernand H. Drouin, in 1994. She was also predeceased by a brother and his wife, Norman and Jackie Marcoux, formerly of Augusta.

She is survived by four children: Andrew Drouin of Augusta; Rose Monceaux and her husband Leonard of St. Martinville, LA; Tina Drouin of Winslow; and Terry Drouin and his wife Tresscia of Albion; two grandsons: Gregory Fox and family of Ellenwood, GA, and Thomas Drouin of Albion. She is also survived by a favorite sister, Annette Marcoux and husband Wayne Keiderling of Warren; and three brothers, Robert Marcoux and wife Lucille of Winslow; Albert Leon Marcoux and wife Avis, also of Winslow; and Jerome Roger Marcoux and wife Linda of Skowhegan. She also leaves behind a brother-in-law, Gerard Drouin of St. Alfred, Quebec; and sisters-in-law Omerine Drouin of Winslow; Giselle Poulin and husband Yvon of Beauceville, Quebec; and Germaine Drouin of Montreal, Quebec; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held at Veilleux Funeral Home Tuesday October 30, 2012 from 6-8pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. John’s Catholic Church in Winslow on October 31, 2012 at 11 a.m. The family will lay Doria to rest next to her husband, Fernand H. Drouin, at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta at a private ceremony.
