Jeanne was born on May 27, 1927, in Winslow, the daughter of John and Anne (Joseph) Duguay. She worked at Lockwood Dutchess for 6 years and then at Colby College for 27 years until her retirement in 1989.
In 1947, Jeanne married Harold Carey and they devoted 57 years to each other until his death in 2004. Together they built a beautiful, loving home and raised their family in Winslow.
Jeanne was extremely devoted to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, sisters, brothers and to her many friends. She was a loving and dedicated caregiver to several family members during their time of illness. She was always ready to extend a helping hand to those in need. Her love and compassion were felt by all who knew her. She will be sadly missed by her family and many dear friends.
Jeanne’s most enjoyment in life was spending time with her family, whether it be a quiet evening sitting on the porch with her children, or attending and helping at the huge Duguay celebrations. She also enjoyed spending time knitting slippers and baking her famous whoopie pies for the church fair. She cherished her daily coffee breaks with her church friends, her weekly lunches with her sisters, Theresa and Lorraine, and her monthly luncheons with the church Friendship Group.
A devout Catholic, Jeanne was an active member of St. John the Baptist Church in Winslow for her entire life.
