

Waterville, Maine – Ludwin P. Bosse, 82, of Mt. St. Joseph went to our Lord on Monday, February 1, 2010 after a long, wonderful life as the best husband, dad and pepere.Ludwin was born in Worcester, MA on December 30, 1927, son of Joseph & Jeannette (Proulx) Bosse. As a child, he spent many summers working on his Memere Proulx’s farm in Epping, NH and loved to reminisce about those days and the time he spent with his aunts and uncles and cousins. He graduated from St. Francis High School in Biddeford, Class of 1945. Ludwin proudly served his country in the US Navy during World War II. On November 15, 1947 he married his childhood sweetheart, Gloria (Godin) Bosse, and together they just celebrated their 62nd wedding 5anniversary. Together they raised six children while living at their family home on 19 Messalonskee Avenue. While on Messalonskee Avenue they developed many friendships with their neighbors. Among their dearest friends were Everett and Joan Willey. Ludwin worked for the US Postal Service retiring as Postmaster of Fairfield in 1983 after 30 years of service. He was able to enjoy over 25 years of retirement with Gloria and fondly looked back at their time at Harwichport, MA on Cape Cod with Doris and John Brodeur of Chicopee, MA. In 2008 Ludwin & Gloria sold the family home and made their new home at Park Residences, where they made many new friends.Ludwin is survived by his devoted wife, Gloria (Godin) Bosse, his six children, James & Janet (Weymouth) Bosse of Westbrook, Claire & James Moen of Oakland, Diane Russell, Marguerite Bosse, both of Winslow, Jeanne & Robert (Jay) Moreau Jr. of Oakland, and John & Gayle (Derocher) Bosse of Maynard, MA. “Pep” is also survived by nine grandchildren, Jay & Laura (Welch) Bosse of Brooklyn, NY, Karen (Bosse) & Christopher Cyr of Westbrook, Heidi (Moen) & David Whitney of North Waterboro, Christina (Moen) & Brian Winkley of Oakland, Keith & Heather (Douglas) Russell of Rockport, Kelly (Russell) & David Anderson of Wilmington, MA, Whitney Moreau of Oakland, and Allison & Jennifer Bosse of Maynard, MA. Last, but not least, “Pep” was a proud great-grandfather to four, Ethan & Erin Winkley, Nathan Anderson and Alice Gloria Bosse.Ludwin is also survived by his two sisters, Jeanne (Bosse) & Gerald Roy of Lancaster, PA, and Rachel Morrissette of Kennebunk, ME, and one brother, Gerard & Annette (Morin) Bosse of Lancaster, PA. He also leaves behind some very dear friends and extended family, too many to list, but all very dear to him. Ludwin was predeceased by his parents, Joseph & Jeannette Bosse, his brother & spouse, Fernand & Kathleen (Lessard) Bosse, brother-in-law, Fernand (Spike) Morrissette, son-in-law, Thomas Russell, and grandson, Gregory Moen.Ludwin was so very proud of his family; he loved God and his Country, and enjoyed his work and his retirement. He was sad to leave us but celebrated the long, good life he had. Special thanks to Dr. Ervin & Dr. Margolis, your time and attention to Ludwin meant the world to him. Thanks also to the many nurses and doctors at Maine General who took care of him over the years. And…last but not least…Thank you to the wonderful, compassionate staff at Mt. St. Joseph…you helped to make his last few months comfortable…and allowed him to pass with dignity.Visiting hours will be at Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm Street, Waterville, Maine from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 2010. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis de Sales Church on Elm Street in Waterville at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2010, and interment will be in the spring at St. Francis Catholic Cemetary.In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Servants of Blessed Sacrament in his memory.Condolences may be made online at www.mem.com
