

Marie Irene (Vigue) Perry, 89, of Vassalboro, passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at Maine General Medical Center following a prolonged illness. Born on April 21, 1921, in Waterville, to William and Isabelle (Gagne) Veilleux, Marie attended grammar school in Fairfield and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1939. She married Benedict Perry in 1946 and together they made their home in Vassalboro, raising three children.
Marie worked for many years for the post offices in North Vassalboro and Augusta. She was also a long-time member of both the Ronco-Goodale American Legion Post #126 and the Winslow Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies' Auxilliaries, the Vassalboro Grange, the Sunshine Club, and was a parishioner of St. Bridgett's Catholic Church in Vassalboro for more than 60 years.
Marie was known for her sparkling blue eyes, kind heart, and gentle nature, always making her family the most important part of her life. She held a special place in her heart for her beautiful Persian cat, Suzie. Marie was a fantastic cook whose specialties included delicious apple and raspberry pies, special Thanksgiving stuffing, and melt-in-your-mouth divinity fudge. She was an avid Red Sox fan, rarely missing a televised game.
Marie will be sadly missed by sons, Reginald Perry and wife, Julia, of Clinton, Douglas Perry and wife, Gail of Vassalboro, and daughter Cynthia Brown and husband, Michael, of Vassalboro, who survive her. Also surviving are grandson Tyler Brown and wife, Victoria, of Vassalboro, granddaughter Allison Brothers and husband, Stephen, of Chesapeake,Virginia, grandson Shawn Savage, and wife Jennie of Caribou, granddaughter Shannon Savage and husband Richard Letourneau of Fairfield, and great-grandchildren Sawyer and Sasha Letourneau, Dayne, Donovan, Dagan, and Selena Savage, and Tristyn Brown, three brothers: James Veilleux and wife Paula, George Vigue and wife Lorraine, both of Winslow, and brother Maurice Vigue of Fairfield, a sister-in-law Leah Banton of Augusta, and several special nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 59 years, sisters, Frances Dugal and Ursula Voisine, and brother, Donald Vigue.
The family would like to thank the staff of Maine Medical Center CITCU staff, and Doctors Quinn and Rivas, who took special care of Marie during her long illness, and the staff of Maine General Medical Center, Thayer Campus, and Lakewood Manor.
Visiting Hours will be held Friday January 28, 2011 from 3-7pm at Veilleux Funeral Home 8 Elm Street Waterville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11AM Saturday January 29, 2011 at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church, Vassalboro. Spring interment will be in Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Augusta.
