Michael Mike Ernest McQuarrie

Michael Ernest McQuarrie VASSALBORO, ME -- Michael Ernest McQuarrie, 63, of Vassalboro, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, at Maine-General Medical Center, Thayer Unit, following a brief illness.Michael was born on Oct. 28, 1945, in Skowhegan, the son of Donald and Reta (Lynds) McQuarrie.Michael graduated from Winslow High School in 1964. Following high school, he served in the Air National Guard. In 1977, he met and married the love of his life, Shirley (Csengery) McQuarrie.Michael worked for William Mushero, Inc. for more than 25 years. In 1997, he earned an associate's degree in criminal justice at the University of Maine at Augusta. For the past 10 years, he had worked for MaineGeneral Health as a security officer. Mike enjoyed family, hunting, fishing, reading and channel-surfing. He especially loved their dog, Bub.Mike was predeceased by his father in 1979; his daughter, Kimberly McQuarrie, in 1977; and a nephew, Lincoln Morin, in 2006.Besides his wife, Shirley, of Vassalboro, he is survived by his mother, Reta, of Winslow; a daughter, Kelly Cooke and her husband, Peter, of Florida; two grandchildren, Joseph and Emily Cooke of Florida; two sisters, Dawn Slough and her husband, Thomas, of Arkansas and Lanelle Freeman and her husband, Arthur, of Winslow; three nephews, Scott Slough and his wife, Cheryl, of Tennessee, TJ Slough and his wife, Nicole, of Arkansas, and Caleb Morin and his wife, Falon, of Winslow; a niece, Amy Morin of Waterville; several great-nieces and nephews.Visiting hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, at Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm St., Waterville. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 23, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Eustis Parkway, Waterville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kennebec Valley Humane Society, 10 Pet Haven Lane, Augusta, ME 04330, or to a charity of your choice.The family wishes to thank Drs.
