Oakland – Patricia Theresa (Gullifer) Stewart, 81, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2016 with family by her side. She was born in Waterville, ME on May 10, 1934, the daughter of Helen Gullifer. Pat was very close to her aunt, Alice Gullifer, and spent most of her childhood with her. She graduated from Waterville High School, Class of 1953, and later became a nurse at Thayer Hospital. She married Calvin Roger Stewart on June 20, 1959 in Waterville and they lived and raised a family happily together for 53 years.
Pat loved to travel, loved adventure, trips to the ocean and mini golf. Family was very important and special to her. She loved holidays and any gatherings where loved ones could be together. Mom had a passion for writing. She would write letters upon letters and some of them even reached the Pope! When it came to debating, especially about religion, the family knows very well – you will NOT – win that argument. This incredible woman is going to be missed by so many people. How wonderful she was cannot be fully expressed unless we had enough pages to write a book. She will be greatly missed.
Pat was a devout Catholic and part of the church at a very young age. She was an Eucharistic Minister, a volunteer for over 20 years at Sacred Heart Soup Kitchen and a member of the Rosary Sodality. She worked at Sacred Heart rectory under Father Goudreau for many years.
She is survived by her daughters: Anne Bisson and her partner James of Clearwater, FL; Caroline Stewart and her partner John of Chatham, NH; her son Stephen Stewart and his wife Cathy of Waterville; her son-in-law Rick Forsley of Oakland, ME; her grandchildren: Jeremy Bisson of Knox, ME; Ashley Chamberlin of Clearwater, FL; Hilary Forsley of Portland, ME; Parker Forsley of Aspen, CO; Schara Mailhot of Lewiston, ME; great-granddaughter Madison Bisson; as well as many other loving family members. She was predeceased by her husband Calvin Stewart and her daughter Lisa Forsley.
Visiting hours will be on Tuesday March 22 from 5 – 7 pm at Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm Street, Waterville.
